NC Wildlife Resources Commission

WRC has dog hunting in its scope

August 29, 2019 By S. Henri McClees Leave a Comment

David Hoyle, newly elected Chairman of NC Wildlife Resources Commission, said on 8/28/19 he will hold numerous meetings across NC about dog hunting.  We must be involved in his fact-finding efforts.

In early 2019, a NC Senator filed a bill interfering with dog hunting in Granville County.  Apparently, two other legislators wanted to add their counties.  NC House Wildlife Committee Chairman Jay Adams interceded. He asked WRC to study the issue and report back.  Leadership agreed with Rep. Adams’ approach.

Thank you, Rep. Adams for encouraging discussions about dog hunting issues instead of diving into an unproductive fight.

Thank you, Chairman David Hoyle for including us in the planning of these dog hunting meetings.  David assured us he will soon contact us regarding scheduling.

Dog Hunters, be prepared to attend a meeting in your area to discuss the nature & traditions of dog hunting as well as user conflicts in your area.

Contact Henri McClees if you have questions.
